Delete your Keep Reader account

This page explains how to request deletion of your Keep Reader account and the data associated with it. Account deletion is permanent and cannot be undone.

How to request deletion by email

1. Send an email to support@keepreader.com with the subject line “Delete my Keep Reader account”.
2. In the body, include the email address or username you use to sign in to Keep Reader. This is how we identify the account to delete. We will reply from the same address to confirm we received the request.
3. To verify you are the account owner, we may ask you to reply from the email address registered on the account, or to confirm a recent piece of activity (e.g. one of the feed URLs you added).
4. Once verified, we will delete your account within 30 days and send a final confirmation email when it is done.

What gets deleted

When your account is deleted, the following are permanently removed from our systems:

• Your account record (username, email, password hash).
• All content you added: RSS feed subscriptions, newsletter emails received at your forwarding address, web clippings, uploaded PDFs and ebooks, notes, tags, and collections.
• All reading state: read/later/knowledge bucket assignments, highlights, annotations, and reading progress.
• Your AI configuration: stored OpenAI or Anthropic API keys (encrypted at rest).
• AI-generated content tied to your account: summaries, semantic-search embeddings, and topic clusters.
• Your unique newsletter forwarding address; emails sent to it after deletion are rejected.
• Any uploaded files in object storage (Cloudflare R2) associated with your account.

What is retained, and for how long

• Operational server logs (request timestamps, IP addresses, user-agent strings) are kept for up to 30 days for security and abuse-prevention purposes, then automatically rotated out. These logs are not linked to your account after deletion.
• Email delivery logs from our inbound email provider (Amazon SES) may retain envelope metadata for up to 30 days per AWS retention policies. Email body content is not stored after the message is processed.
• Billing or transactional records: none. Keep Reader has no paid plans, so no payment information is collected or retained.

We retain no other data after deletion is complete.

Closing the Google sign-in connection

If you signed in with Google, deleting your Keep Reader account does not revoke Keep Reader's access to your Google account on Google's side. To revoke that permission, visit myaccount.google.com/permissions and remove Keep Reader from the list.
